The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB Warns Candidates, to be wary of the activities of fraudulent cyber cafe operators. A candidate who was desirous of changing her programme and institution came to the Board’s Headquarters to effect the change when a cyber cafe operator approached her and convinced her that the service being sought was not on any JAMB platforms as the Board was experiencing network challenges and that he could do the change for her in his cyber cafe. Meanwhile, his cyber cafe does not have the authorisation to do so. The True vine Cyber cafe, located opposite JAMB National Headquarters, Bwari, had been collecting a huge sum of money from unsuspecting candidates. The cyber cafe created a spurious website while making spurious demands for more money from their victims.
The website, www.embassycafe.com, was used to forward the details of the candidate, Ms Kelechi Favour Ossai, for services which the cyber cafe owner purported could only be rendered by his cyber cafe on payment of a fee. The same website is being used to carry out many other fraudulent acts apart from the one that had come to light. Therefore, candidates are advised to be wary of the antics of such sites which claim to perform operations for which they were not authorised. JAMB Warns Candidates
The cyber cafe operator, Mr Sadiq Sani, had also collected some other documents in addition to the money he obtained from the candidate with a promise to send an OTP to her phone later. After a prolonged silence , she became apprehensive and decided to lodge a verbal complaint of extortion to JAMB

against the cyber cafe.
The operator of the cyber cafe and his accomplices have since been arrested and are currently assisting the police to expose all the unwholesome activities they had engaged in. The Board is, once again, urging prospecting candidates to always report any suspicious request or promise of capacity to perform operations that are solely the responsibilities of JAMB owned Professional Testing Centres and Professional Registration Centres or approved CBT centres as no cyber cafe is authorised to perform any of the Board’s critical operations. Candidates are, therefore, advised not to visit any of these fraudulent cyber cafes for any of the Board’s services that they can access without stress at the various JAMB offices nationwide.
